Jeanette Thelma Dahle, 91, of Kiester, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Kiester. The Rev. Dick Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Scarville, Iowa. Arrangements are with Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells.
Jeanette Thelma (Hougen) Dahle was born Aug. 28, 1918, in Winnebago County, Iowa, to Gilbert and Rachel (Langfald) Hougen. Jeanette passed on to her heavenly home on Oct. 24, 2009, in Albert Lea, with her daughters by her side. She was baptized and confirmed in Center Lutheran Church rural Lake Mills, Iowa, by the Rev. Justin Peterson. She was married to LeRoy Dahle on June 28, 1942, and moved to Kiester in 1945. As a young woman, Jeanette worked at Peoples Cafe in Lake Mills, where she met her husband and the love of her life. Jeanette was a devoted homemaker and was well known for the fabulous cooking and baking.
As a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, life was lived as an example of her love of life and of the Lord. Her devotion to her family built a lasting foundation, which has inspired all of us for our lifetime.
Her greatest joy was watching and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jeanette was a member of our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. She had been a Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher. Jeanette was also a member of the WELCA women and had served on several committees. She also served on the altar guild for several years and as an officer of a circle.
She was the dedicated dispatcher for Kiester Ambulance for 25 years and had been a member of Kiester Firefighters Auxiliary. She was co-owner of the Kiester Bus Service for 38 years.
Jeanette is survived by two daughters: Janice and husband Ron of Boulder, Colo., and Carolyn and husband Gene of Alexandria; grandchildren: Angie Yarbrough and husband Scott of Boulder, Colo., Chris Mueller and wife Liza of Aberdeen, S.D., Nathan Mueller and wife Sarah of Sioux Falls, S.D., Matthew and wife Rachel of Sioux Falls, S.D.; great-grandchildren: Arielle Yarbrough of Boulder, Colo., Brianna and Grace Mueller of Aberdeen, S.D., Annika, Alisha and Ameila Mueller of Sioux Falls, S.D.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; parents; sisters Alma and husband Austin Thompson and Alice and husband Clarence Ferley; nephew, Richard Thompson; great grandson, Brian Herbert Mueller in infancy.
