Lois LaVonne Kapke, age 88, of Wells, passed away of natural causes at her home on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service Saturday. The Rev. Kathy Fullarton will officiate and burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Richaland.
Lois is survived by one son, Dana Kapke of Wells; three daughters Pam Schultz of Wells, Darla (Jim) McMartin of Austin and Jolene (Todd) Carlson of Wells. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Sue (Mike) Phenning, Debra (Pat) Doyle; Sherry Thamez, Robert, Richard (Paula), Rebecca and Ronald Schultz, Tracy Roberts, Tina (Dale) King, Dustin Whiteis, Tanya, Derrik, Austin and Kaylee Carlson, 34 1/2 great-grandchildren and 2 1/2 great-great-grandchildren.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, twin brothers at birth in Iowa, her brother Merle Kobernus and her sister Ruby (Gerald) Boelman.
