Published 8:28 am Friday, October 23, 2009
Redeemer Lutheran Church of Alden will hold its seventh annual sacred music concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Featured will be area vocal soloists, a piano duet, Redeemer’s chamber band, the actor’s guild, a family vocal ensemble, the Redeemer Church adult choir, flute, clavinova, soprano recorder and a clown skit.
New this year from the Fairmont area is Sacred Steps, a group of women that does liturgical dancing. They have been dancing for about eight years.
There is no admission charge for the concert or reception. An offering will be collected. The proceeds from this event will be donated to Luther Seminary in St. Paul in support of Leslie Neist, of Albert Lea, who is enrolled in the master of divinity program. Supplemental funds will be provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Seven years ago, the sacred concert idea was formed by the Rev. Peter Soli, Stu Potter and Bette Fulton as a mission that the church could do to help in the support of pastoral ministry.
