Some Blue Zones aren’t long-lived

Published 7:26 am Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I’ve been reading with interest about the Blue Zones, and, yes, I guess it’s a good idea, but I have another Blue Zone in mind, the sad kind, where people are unemployed perhaps losing their homes, having to move in with friends and relatives who probably don’t have a great surplus of money, food, etc., themselves. Do you suppose these people are in such wonderful health? I imagine many times they don’t even get enough food or the proper food and what the worry does to their well being.

I’ve done a great deal of walking in my life. I walked everywhere, and today, at 81, I’ve got deterioration in my legs and can hardly walk. I hope this doesn’t happen to your walkers at an earlier age. I believe what God tells us in the Bible, moderation in all things. Walk, folks, but also use some common sense.

The suggestion that the president’s wife come to Albert Lea I thought was obsurd. Look what that would have cost tax payers. Money needed to help the unemployed and needy.

Good luck, walkers. I hope you receive the deserved effect. Also, I hope that the publicity brings some jobs to Albert Lea, a very nice place to live.
