Tiger tennis falls to Hastings in section tournament

The Albert Lea girls’ tennis team’s season came to a close Tuesday against Hastings in the Section 1AA playoffs in a 4-3 loss to the Raiders.
The Tigers (11-10) were stretched to three sets in two matches and both times Hastings was able to find the third set victory.
At No. 4 singles Michelle Hartmann came back from a 6-3 first set loss for a 6-2 victory, but in the third MacKenzie Klimek got a 6-3 victory.
At No. 3 doubles Albert Lea’s tandem of Zoey Hill and Kayla Hartmann came back for a 6-4 victory in the second set after a 6-4 loss, but the Raiders’ Jessica Wassink and Hannah Carlson got the decisive third set victory 6-4.
Sarah Wenum gave the Tigers a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles and Kellsie Dieser had a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Erika Blickenderfer and Mikaela Pierson provided the other victory for Albert Lea at No. 1 doubles.
The Tigers end the season above .500 for the first time in five years and have the section individual tournament to look forward to Oct. 15.
