People interested in voting for the 2009 Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce ornament can do so starting today.
Like last year, voters will be able to access the entries online through the chamber Web site and then e-mail in their vote of the photo they like best. They can also view and vote for the entries at the chamber office.
“I think it’s a fabulous tradition that’s been going on for the last few years, and I’d like to thank everyone who’s submitted a photograph,” said chamber Executive Director Randy Kehr.
This is the fifth year of the contest.
Tami Riecke, operations manager, said there were about 20 submissions to the contest this year, covering a wide range of topics.
There are a couple winter shots, a couple summer shots and some other unique ones, too, she said.
Ornaments from previous years include photos of the Fountain Lake fountains, the gazebo at Fountain Lake Park, Pickerel Lake and most recently a winter scene on the trail on the north side of Fountain Lake.
Riecke said she thinks the ornaments this year will be similar to as in years past, being flat, ceramic and circular in shape. They will feature the winning photo.
Last year, ornaments sold for $6, and prices should be similar this year, she said.
The person who enters the winning photo can expect to receive a gift basket with items from area businesses.
To view the entries go to www.albertlea.org/home.html. There will be a link to the ornaments on the main page.
Voting will go through Friday.
