Glenville-Emmons ended the regular season just as its head football coach Derek Nelson envisioned.

The Wolverines (4-4, 4-4 SEC) won 14-0 over Lyle/Pacelli in Glenville for their second consecutive win and momentum heading into the postseason.

Glenville-Emmons received the seventh seed in the Section 1 Nine-man playoffs and will head to Houston Tuesday to face the second-seeded Hurricanes.

“We’re going in to the sections they way I hoped we would,” Nelson said.

Wolverines junior quarterback Zack Williamson lifted the team to victory with a pair of touchdown runs, including a 78-yard run in the fourth quarter as Glenville-Emmons ended the season with a .500 record for the first time since 2003.

The Athletics keyed on Wolverine running back Michael Thofson, who rushed for 52 yards, but Williamson was able to break loose for 141 yards.

Freshman Derek Olson intercepted two passes for the Wolverine defense in its first shutout of the season.

“I think we played well considering the elements,” Nelson said. “I’d love to have seen us play in great conditions.”
