Funeral services for Evelyn L. Perkins, 85, of Albert Lea, will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Evelyn died on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center.
Evelyn Louise Perkins was born on June 25, 1924, in Pickerel Lake Township, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Stern) Schmidt. She attended District 124 school. Evelyn was united in marriage to Arnold C. Perkins at Concordia Pickerel Lake Lutheran Church. She has been a lifelong resident of Freeborn County where she was a homemaker and hairdresser. Evelyn enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, the VFW auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son, David and wife Marsha Perkins, LaMont, Iowa; grandchildren: Jacob and Derick Perkins, Austin, and wife Jennie and son Nolan Perkins; sister-in-law, Lillian Perkins; special longtime friend, Leonard Meyer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; son, Mark and wife Barb Perkins; siblings: Ernie and wife Millis Schmidt, Alvin and wife Ora Schmidt, George and wife Alice Schmidt, Marie and Alvin Tostenson, Hulda and Ervin Olson and Milford Perkins.
