Former Albert Lea volleyball standout Annika Smed helps lead North Dakota to possible conference title

Former Albert Lea standout Annika Smed is helping guide North Dakota’s women’s volleyball team to an eight match winning streak.
The Fighting Sioux own a 19-6 overall record and Smed is second on the team in kills with 259. She is also second on the team in digs with 284 and blocks with 63. Smed leads the team with 26 serving aces. Smed has seven double-doubles on the season.
North Dakota, the conference leader can wrap up the Great West Conference title Saturday when South Dakota comes to Grand Forks before beginning play at the Great West Conference tournament in Houston.
