Lake Mills’ Nelson plays in Tri-State volleyball All-Star match

Lake Mills senior Darcy Nelson played in the Tri-State All-Star game Sunday at Luther College as a member of the Iowa All-Star team.

Nelson, a middle hitter was selected as the North Iowa Conference player of the year in a year she the Bulldogs with 264 kills and helped guide them to the Class 2A Region 5 finals for the second straight season. Nelson was also selected as a Northeast Iowa All-District performer.

“This is a great event and a great honor for our team,” said Lake Mills head coach Jim Boehmer. “Last year Cassie (Christianson) and Jordynn (Brackey) played on the Iowa team and I am glad to see another Bulldog on the roster. Our girls work hard and it is nice to see that effort pay-off. It is nice to see this type of recognition come to our program.”

The event brought together some of the top players from Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as Iowa.

Nelson was one of 11 players selected to the team.

She remains undecided on a choice for college.
