Lois Brandt, 77

Lois Ann Brandt, 77, of Mapleton, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at her home in Mapleton. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s UCC Cemetery in Minnesota Lake Twp, Faribault Co., with Pastor Bob Kleinke officiating. Arrangements are with Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells.
Lois Ann (Niebuhr) Brandt was born July 1, 1932, the daughter of Milton and Ella (Pestorious) Niebuhr in Alden. She graduated from Alden High School, the class of 1950. On Aug. 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Brandt at Grace Lutheran Church in Alden. The couple had farmed together in the Waldorf and Minnesota Lake areas from 1950-1965. Lois worked as a cook and dietary manager at the Mapleton Community Home for 24 years. Lois enjoyed planting flowers, working crossword puzzles, baking, embroidery and reading.
She is survived by her sons: Jim (wife Jeanette) Brandt of Mapleton and Gary Brandt of Sherburn; four grandchildren: Michelle (husband Gregg) Schwartz of Austin, Tim (Michelle) Brandt of Mapleton, James Brandt Jr. of Austin and Lindsay Brandt of Duluth; nine great-grandchildren: Taylor, Autumn, and Eli Schwartz; Kyle, Collin, Ethan and Natalie Brandt; Samantha and Andrea Brandt; one brother: Kenneth Niebuhr of Alden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene, in 1994; brother and sister-in-law: Marvin and Marvel Niebuhr; sister-in-law, Janet Niebuhr; and grandson, Troy Brandt.
