Ronald Olson

Ronald Truman Olson of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2009.
Ronald was born July 3, 1942, in Albert Lea, the son of Truman and Deloris (Rebbe) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, attended Albert Lea schools, and served in the U.S. Army in Germany as an artillery gunman. Ron started his vocation in roofing at the age of 16 and did this in various positions for 50 years.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Billie Olson of Sioux City; children: Rhonda (Olson) Schukei, Sheila Olson, and Ricky Olson of Northwood, Iowa; stepchildren Robbie Carney and wife Linda of Sioux City and Jeff Carney and wife Pamela of Decorah, Iowa; ex-wife Marlene (Linde) Roberts of Northwood; grandchildren: Nelette, Rocco and Kacey Schukei; Jade and Jakki Olson; and step grandchildren Skylar and Alex Carney.
Ron is also survived by siblings: David Olson and his wife Carol of Oronoco, Nancy Schwarz of Albert Lea, Janice and her husband Kent Hershey of New Brighton, William Olson and his wife Rita of Albert Lea, Diane and her husband Kenneth Sorensen of Albert Lea, and Linda and her husband Lamar Petersen of Emmons; and many nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Deloris Olson.
Memories of Ron will always include his culinary skills at the barbecue grill when he cooked “shicken” for his family, his easy-going laughter, and his lifelong desire to tell a good joke before he forgot the punch line. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In accordance with Ron’s wishes, he will be cremated.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Albert Lea. Blessed be his memory.
