The Waldorf College Jazz Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Atrium at Waldorf College, 106 S. Sixth St., in Forest City, Iowa.

The ensemble performs under the direction of Nate Benzing, adjunct music instructor at Waldorf. The concert will include a mix of classical jazz selections with more contemporary pieces.

Benzing, who is also director of bands for the Ventura Community School District, is an active clinician, adjudicator and performer. He has served as a percussionist for Shirley Jones when she performed at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa.

In 1996, Benzing was a recipient of the Outstanding Jazz Educator award presented by the National Band Association.

The public is invited to attend the concert free of charge.

The jazz band includes: Allen Mannes of Lake Mills, Iowa, on drums, and Adam Wilkie of Hollandale on tenor sax.
