Fast start carries USC girls to victory

United South Central’s Val Sahr celebrated her 17th birthday in style Thursday as she scored 19 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for the Rebels girls’ basketball team in a 55-37 victory over Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton in Janesville.

Sahr led all scorers and helped USC jump out to a 13-0 run to start the game and give the Rebels (3-2, 3-0 Gopher) a big advantage on the glass.

Katie Ovrebo added 11 points while Taylor Allis scored nine point and had seven assists.

USC plays New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Tuesday in Wells.
