Robert D. Dahl, 76, of Emmons, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at his home in Emmons.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Emmons Lutheran Church in Emmons with the Rev. Julie Fiske officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Emmons, with military honors conducted by the Albert Lea American Legion Post #56, Albert Lea VFW Post #447, and Emmons Louis/Tviete American Legion Post #317.
Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Robert Duane Dahl was born on March 12, 1933, in Winnebago County, Iowa, to parents Lawrence and Viola “Bobbie” (Halvorson) Dahl. He attended country school and graduated from Emmons High School.
On May 30, 1953, Robert was united in marriage with Yvonne Isaacson at the Emmons Lutheran Church. Robert served in the United States Army and spent 14 months in Korea. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Wilsons and Farmstead in Albert Lea. Retirement officially began when Farmstead closed, but Robert managed to stay active and enjoyed being busy working as the manager of the Emmons Legion, at the Albert Lea Golf Club, and at Universal Tire in Albert Lea.
Robert had hobbies of hunting, fishing, and golfing. He went on 50+ annual hunting trips to Baudette, only missing this past year’s trip.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Yvonne of Emmons; son, David (Kerri) Dahl and two granddaughters, Taylor and Sydney, all of Emmons; a brother, Dennis (Kathy) Dahl of rural Emmons; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Joann Dahl of Babbitt, Jean (Orlo) Willmert of Albert Lea, Joan (Larry) Beck of Emmons, Harriet (Dennis) Seaton of Emmons, Raymond (Thelma) Isaacson of Albert Lea, and Paul Isaacson of Mason City, Iowa; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lynn; and his mother- and father-in-law, Harriet and Glen Isaacson.
