Funeral services for David Marvin Meyer Sr., age 48, of Albert Lea will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. James Burning and Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. that day at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.
David died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
David Marvin Meyer Sr. was born on July 15, 1961, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to David and Lydia Meyer. David spent his childhood traveling through the world because of his father’s career in the Navy. David later moved to Minnesota where he joined the Army. On July 22, 1983, he was united in marriage to Annette Marie McElroy in Perth Amboy, N.J. David worked for Schwiegert Foods for 17 years as the sanitation supervisor. He enjoyed taking pictures, collecting things and camping. Most of all David enjoyed spending time with friends, family and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, David (Serena) Valdez; Sharon Meyer and her fiancé, Levi Hughes, Pam Sales and special friend, Mark Albert, and Harley Meyer; grandchildren, Marcus, Aunna, Lily, Clara, Levi Jr. and Mark; mother, Lydia; brother, Dale (Danette) Meyer; fiancé, Tonya Seedorf and her family; many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norbert and Elvesta Meyer; father, David Meyer and sister, Sheila Meyer in infancy.
