The funeral service for Kathleen M. Thofson of Albert Lea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St., Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Internment will be in Hayward Cemetery.
Kathleen was born on Jan. 10, 1939, in Maple Island, the daughter of Fred A. and Edna G. (Lombard) Adams. She attended Albert Lea schools.
She was united in marriage to Meloid Thofson and had six children: Clayton, Judy, Michael, Jimmy, Gary and Jeffrey. They were married from 1954 until 1994.
Kathleen lived in southern Minnesota most of her life, working at Land O’Lakes in Albert Lea for two years and Banquet Foods in Wells for more than 20 years before retiring.
Kathleen was a loyal, diligent worker, but made her family her top priority. She loved being involved in all the family activities.
In her younger years, water skiing was a great passion for her. In later life, she enjoyed painting ceramics and trips to Diamond Jo.
Kathleen died on Wednesday morning, Jan. 20, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center. She was 71.
She will be greatly missed by her family: daughter, Judy (Steven) Christensen of Ellendale; four sons: Michael Thofson, Las Vegas, Nev., Jimmy (Kathy) Thofson, Wells, Gary Thofson, Albert Lea, and Jeffrey (Cheri) Thofson, Alden; grandchildren: Daniel Christensen of Hopkins, Nicole (Nathan) Milender of Minneapolis, Alex (Afton) Thofson of Minnesota Lake, Kassandra Killian and her son Syrus of Hilo, Hawaii, Trista Thofson of Lake Lillian, Ryan (Jessica) Barnick of Waconia, and Tonya Thofson of Alden; brother, Kenneth Adams, Albert Lea; sister, Dorothy Fogel, Marion, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and special friend Bob Tietz of Albert Lea.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Clayton Thofson; and sisters: Eleanor Sanders, Shirley Markham and Caroline Webster.
