Any visions of the Albert Lea girls’ hockey team knocking off Mankato West were quickly dismissed Thursday after a flurry of goals in the first period sent the Tigers reeling in an 8-0 loss to the Scarlets in Mankato.
The Tigers (7-9-1) lost to Mankato West 3-2 in overtime Dec. 15, but this time the Scarlets took the intrigue out quickly.
Amanda Probach scored three goals and Katy Kvasnicka scored three times and added two assists for a five-point game for Mankato West.
The Scarlets scored four times in the first period and four more times in the second period as they outshot Albert Lea 36-22.
The Tigers head to Rochester Tuesday to face Century.
