An Iowa tax rally in April will be the backdrop for Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s second trip to the key state as a potential candidate for president.

Iowans for Tax Relief said Friday that Pawlenty would appear with prominent Iowa Republicans at the Des Moines event on April 17. A Pawlenty adviser confirmed the planned trip.

Pawlenty is in the last year of his second term. He hasn’t ruled out running for the White House in 2012.

In November, Pawlenty spoke to an Iowa Republican Party dinner. He’s also been to New Hampshire, giving him exposure in the two states with an early voice in presidential politics.
