Mary Ann Nelson, 67

Funeral services for Mary Beth Nelson, 67, of Glenville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Mary passed Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, the Lord took her home with her family present.
Mary Beth Nelson was born on April 27, 1942, in Albert Lea to Victor and Mary (Head) Hanson. Mary was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and attended Albert Lea Schools. On Sept. 12, 1973, Mary was united in marriage to Larry D. Nelson in Mitchell, S.D. The couple made their home in rural Glenville where they farmed. Mary enjoyed being a wife and partner with Larry, being outdoors, raising miniature ponies, horses, and cattle. While raising her family she continued her education at Riverland Community College in Interior Design. She was employed at Floorcrafters in Albert Lea and owned her own design business, Fine Line Draperies. She was very artistic with oil painting and drew pictures throughout her life. Mary loved and collected antiques and arrowheads. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Larry; daughters: Cheryl (Stoner) Mertz, Shelia (Stoner) Jensen and Shelley (Stoner) Viktora; son, James E. Stoner; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers: Lawrence M. Hanson and Edwin (Betty) Hanson; sisters: Ellen (Gary) Alkire and Barbara (Dick) Kath; brother-in-law, Darrel Nelson; sisters-in-law: Fran Nelson, Connie Nelson and Catherine Schumm; special niece, Chris (Gilbert) Bercier; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Mary Hanson; brothers: V. George Hanson and Paul (Mike) Hanson; sister, Kay M. Weise; and brothers-in-law: Dale Nelson and Lee Nelson.
