Melissa Sue Huper, 29, of Wells, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, as a result of a car accident. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Easton. The Rev. Ron Jobe will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Easton.
Melissa was born March 2, 1980, in Mankato, the daughter of David and Joyce (Schrader) Martin. On June 22, 2002, she married Eric Huper in Wells. She graduated from United South Central High School in 1998 and attended Riverland College, graduating with an administrative assistant degree. Melissa worked at USC Public School as a lunchroom accountant and at The Silhouette in Easton. She loved being a mom to Daylyn and Caldyn. She enjoyed working with the kids at USC. She also enjoyed cooking, scrapbooking and playing softball and volleyball. She really loved being with her children, Daylyn and Caldyn.
Melissa is survived by a daughter, Daylyn Huper of Wells; a son, Caldyn Huper of Wells; father of her children: Eric Huper of Wells; parents: David and Joyce Martin of Easton; brother, Dru Martin (special friend Mandy Huper) of Easton; grandparents: Wanda Martin of Wells and Lawrence and Ramona Schrader of Easton; aunts and uncles: Jackie (Bryon) Voigt of Wells, Jim (Diana) Schrader of Mississippi; Judy Arends of Colorado; Jonelle Ingrebretson of Texas, Gordon Jr. (Julie) Martin of Wells, Kermit (Linda) Martin of Oregon; Kevin (Connie) Martin of Wells, Tammy (Dick) Whiteis of Mankato; special cousins: Allie and Steve Voigt and many additional cousins. She is also survived by special friend, Chris Musser of Wells.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Gordon Martin Sr.; her uncle, John Arends; and cousin, Gretchen Arends.
