Wells woman dies in crash

A woman from Wells died Sunday in a two-car crash on Sunday on Minnesota Highway 22. Four others were injured. Another man’s condition was unlisted.

Mellisa S. Huper, 29, was a passenger in a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix when it struck a 1999 Saab.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the Pontiac was northbound on two-lane Highway 22 when its driver, Christopher Musser, 29, of Wells, lost control on the icy surface. The car collided with the broadside of the southbound Saab near 4 p.m.

Musser was not documented as injured or uninjured in the State Patrol report. He and Huper were the only two in the Pontiac.

There were four people in the Saab, all injured. Critically injured was Buffy R. Fehn, 28, of Minnesota Lake. George R. Fehn, 35, and Dalton V. Musser, 9, had minor injuries and both were from Minnesota Lake. Peggy Travis, 50, had a non-life threatening injury. Her city of residence was unknown.

The collision occurred on Highway 22 near Mapleton in Blue Earth County.

Fire departments from Good Thunder and Mapleton responded. A Wells ambulance and a Gold Cross ambulance came, too. The Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted.
