It has been three years since the body of a newborn baby girl was discovered in the Mississippi River at the Treasure Island Casino Marina. Now the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is looking to social media to find new leads in this and other cases it investigates.

Investigators believe the child’s body may have been in the water for as long as six months before being found on March 26, 2007. A composite picture was created to show what she may have looked like.

“We want to do everything we can to solve every case we investigate. That includes reaching out to the public in new ways, including through social media,” said BCA Director of Administrative Services Janell Rasmussen. “Through Facebook, the BCA can communicate directly and immediately with the people of Minnesota. In some cases, getting the word out fast can mean the difference between life and death.”
