Jeffrey Larson

Jeffrey Carlyle Larson, 67, of Austin died Thursday, March 25, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Jeffrey was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of Virgil C. and Helen (Highby) Larson. The family moved to Albert Lea when Jeff was a young child where he graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1960. He graduated from St. Olaf College in 1964 with a bachelor of arts degree in history and economics.  He was married to Sonia Marie Sabo on Sept. 21, 1963, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa. Jeffrey served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash. In 1968 the Larsons moved to Austin where Jeff began his career with the Hormel Foods Corp. Purchasing Department, where he worked until his retirement in 2005.
He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and enjoyed many pastimes and hobbies, including biking, hiking, yard work, bird watching and attending the opera. He also had a great love for cars.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by his wife Sonia Larson, Austin; daughter, Christine Larson, Minneapolis; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Maria Estella Larson, Eden Prairie; Grandchildren, Jamie, Joshua and Julianna; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Brian Sabo, Edina; Karen Smith, Edina; Kathleen Baerenwald and Gary Ethofer, Reno, Nev.; Daniel and Victoria Sabo, Bellingham, Wash.; an aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins. 
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Reverend Kristi Koppel officiating. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea. Friends may call at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday. There will be no reviewal. The family prefers memorials to St. Olaf Lutheran Church or the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
