Memorial services for Lulu Joy Westcott of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the First Presbyterian Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be held at the Hayfield Cemetery, Hayfield at a later date,
Lulu died Sunday morning, March 14, 2010, at St John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. She was 100 years of age.
Lulu was born June 24, 1909, in Heron Lake, the daughter of Earl and Bird (Rogers) Ecker. On June 24, 1930, she was united in marriage to Leonard Rockwell Westcott in Laverne. Lulu made her home in Bradenton, Fla., and at her cabin on Beaver Lake near Ellendale. She had resided in Albert Lea for the last few years. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star (Lodge 23), Past president of the Does Drove 70 of Albert Lea and a member of the Travel Class.
Lulu was an accomplished porcelain artist and spend many hours teaching class between her homes in Florida and Minnesota.
She is survived by her children: Susan Ross, Leonard R. (Roxy) and his wife Lois, Joel and his wife Sharon and Julie Forde. There are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Lulu was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; two sons-in-law: Ralph Ross and Ralph Forde; three sisters; and one brother.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Home.
