Republican platform opposes gambling

Instead of pushing for former state Sen. Dick Day’s casino proposal in the Legislature, let’s “eliminate all state-sponsored gambling and oppose any expansion of gambling in Minnesota,” just as the Minnesota Republican platform — Section 4, Item J — states.

Why? Because gambling is wrong, immoral, foolish, wasteful and costly to those who willingly throw away their hard-earned money. Besides, the American Psychiatric Association lists gambling as a compulsive disorder. So gambling is a vice, not a virtue, and actually is legalized robbery — it takes what some other person lost.

So wise up, Minnesota! Give all gambling the boot! Kick it totally out of our lives! — just as the Republican platform states.
