Funeral services for Timothy Wayne Sprenger, 56, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Julie Fiske will officiate. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Tim died Monday, March 16, 2010, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Timothy “Tim” Wayne Sprenger was born on Sept. 26, 1953, to Donald J. and Marjorie Mae (Reindal) Sprenger at Naeve Hospital. Tim lived in Emmons until his early 20s, then, moved to Albert Lea. Tim went to Albert Lea Schools and was a member of Emmons Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He worked for Cedar Valley Services since February of 1979. Tim was active in Special Olympics and Freeborn County ARC. He was a past member of the Jaycees in the Roadrunners. In 1983, Tim received the Minnesota ARC Consumer Award at the state convention for his service to others who were mentally challenged. Tim enjoyed bowling, playing pool and table and computer games like solitaire and yahtzee. Tim especially liked fishing and storytelling with friends and family on their annual fishing trip to Leech Lake. He enjoyed traveling on ARC trips and had been to Branson, Mackinac Island, Nashville, the Grand Ole Opry and Laughlin, Nev. Tim also loved going to the Twins games.
Survivors include his brother, Steve Sprenger of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nephew, Jay Sprenger of Arvada, Colo.; niece, Stephanie Sprenger of Rapid City, S.D.; great-nephew, David Sprenger of Arvada, Colo.; aunt, Elizabeth Dale of Rochester; uncles: Harold (Shirley) Reindal of San Clemente, Calif., and Roger Reindal of Oceanside, Calif.; many cousins and friends.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Marie (Ernst) Heine; uncle, Clifford Dale; uncle, Alfred (Paula) Sprenger; and aunt, Ivo Reindal.
