To all disc golfers, young and old alike. If you have every played the 18-hole course at Bancroft Bay Park, here in Albert Lea, you know the holes 7 through 16 are in dire need of trees.

In August of 2009 I planted more than 1,000 acorns in the rough on holes 7, 8, 9, 1, 11, 12, 15, 16 and broadcast another 800 acorns. Now that it’s spring, they will soon be springing to life, hopefully. The trees will probably only grow six to 10 inches this year. In three to five years they should be easily seen, and in 10 years some may actually start coming into play. It is a slow way to build a park, but it’s a start, with no cost to the city. If things work out in 30 years it will look a lot different from now.

Just think of this being done for your children and grandchildren.
