Albert “Izzy” Gottberg, 75, of Wells, passed away Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The Rev. Kathy Fullarton will officiate and burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Wells Color Guard.
Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family with arrangements.
Izzy was born Aug. 13, 1934, in Wells, the son of Otto E. and Minnie (Bracco) Gottberg. He graduated from Wells High School. On Oct. 12, 1962, he was united in marriage to Patricia Horntasch at the Lutheran Church in Wells. He was a carpet layer and owned “Izzy’s Decorating.” Izzy loved to go fishing and spending time with his granddaughter Brittany. He enjoyed going to coffee with the guys and telling jokes.
Izzy was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Howard “Butch” Gottberg; nephew, Donald Banashak, Patricia Gottberg, and brother-in-law: Don Banashak.
He is survived by his daughter, Beatrice (Paul) Hensche of Alden; one granddaughter, Brittany; sister, LuEtta Banashak; brother, Gale Gottberg, both of Wells; nieces and nephews: Lora Clausen and Michelle Gottberg, Gaylene Langer; David Banashak, Michael Gottberg, Patrick Gottberg, Leslie Latourelle, Rick Gottberg, John Gottberg, Mark Gottberg and Paul Gottberg; one Aunt, LuVerna Brown.
