The Albert Lea sixth-grade traveling boys’ basketball team wrapped up its year with a first-place finish at Madelia.

The Tigers played New Ulm in their first game and came away with a hard-fought 32-31 victory.

Albert Lea then faced St. Peter. Albert Lea trailed at half 15-10 but outscored St. Peter 22-10 in the second half for a 32-25 win.

The Tigers found themselves in the championship game against the home team, Madelia.

Albert Lea came out hot and never looked back winning the championship 38-32.

The sixth grade’s tournament record this year was 13-4. The team placed third in Waseca, fifth in Southland, second in Albert Lea, third in Fairmont, and first in Madelia.
