The new owner of the bar and restaurant in Clarks Grove is Brian Lambert. The place that used to be The Bulldog is now The Pour House Bar and Grill.
This is Lambert’s first time owning a bar, and he used to work in sales.
“It was something I always wanted to do,” Lambert said.
He has big plans for the small establishment. The simplest of these plans is to always keep it very clean.
“It’s clean, comforting and inviting,” Lambert said.
Lambert is the main cook, and he leaves making the drinks to the bartenders he has on staff.
“I really enjoy cooking,” Lambert said. “It makes me smile when people enjoy my food.”
He’s always looking for new things to put on the menu. This Saturday there will be a steak burger special. This burger has not been on the menu, but Lambert tried it and really liked it.
“We’ve got a broad menu,” Lambert said. “You can get a steak or a burger or other things.”
He also said they’re one of the only bars that have free peanuts, and he doesn’t mind if you throw the shells on the floor. He hopes that families come to eat there and don’t just see it as a bar.
“My wife and I pride ourselves on offering a place kids are welcome to eat,” Lambert said. “It’s family friendly during supper times.”
The bar was remodeled in 2000 and a patio was added last year. This summer the bar will have a bean bag toss league. There’s also a side room in the bar that can be reserved which seats about 12 to 14 people.
The bar always has specialty drinks on Fridays and on weeknights there are different specials like taco night on Wednesdays. The Pour House is open Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Happy hour is from 4 to 6 p.m Tuesday through Friday.
Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest and mostly because of the restaurant. Lambert hopes the restaurant will become a popular place to eat and hang out.
“They keep coming back so we must be doing something right,” Lambert said.
He also hopes to make other changes and add entertainment. On May 15 at 9 p.m. the All B.S. band will be performing. Lambert wants to plan more events at the bar to hopefully get more customers.
