The funeral service for Deloris Goodnature of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Bob Weniger will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.
Deloris died on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center. She was 82.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1927, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Danish Immigrants, Oscar and Ellen Jensen. Deloris was proud of her Danish heritage. She graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1946 and married George Allen Goodnature on Feb. 16, 1949. She spent her life making her house a cozy home for her family, which included being an awesome cook. She loved being with family and especially found joy in watching her sons and daughter in many horse show events. Wrestling, a family favorite sport, was something she enjoyed following all through her years. She was always a proud spectator at all her grandkids activities, which included wrestling, soccer, hockey, baseball, dancing and music events- to name a few.
She appreciated animals, a good game of cards, spending time with her “coffee” group, and visiting with people every chance she got. She also liked crocheting, working puzzle books and going to the Senior Center. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in Naomi Circle.
Deloris is survived by her children: Don Goodnature and his wife Deb of Clarks Grove, Larry Goodnature and his wife Mary, Randy Goodnature and his wife June and Deb and her husband Paul Schmitt all of Albert Lea; grandkids: Brian (Kelly) Goodnature, Jake Goodnature, Nate Goodnature, Derek Goodnature, Emily Goodnature, Amy (Ben) Purdy, Toby and Angie Schmitt; great grandchildren: Shea and Brennan Goodnature, Kane and Landen Purdy, Ty Goodnature; brothers: Irvin(Shirley) Jensen of Albert Lea, Harold (Janice) Jensen of Ellendale, Dale (Barb) Jensen of Geneva, Stanley (Iris) Jensen of Lakeville; sister, Louella Bjoraker of Owatonna; sister’s-in-law: Lucille Goodnature of Sandstone, Marie (Kenny) Ferguson of Albert Lea, Eileen Goodnature of Mesa, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; her grandsons: Perry Schmitt and Corey Goodnature; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Roy Bjoraker, Lester Goodnature, Naomi and Eddie Johnson, Blanch and Dick Sliger, David Goodnature, Vincent Goodnature and Donald Goodnature.
