Congratulations to Randy Demmer on winning the endorsement Saturday from the Republican Party. The nod came during the 1st District convention in Mankato.

Demmer still must go through the primary election, but the endorsement likely means he will be the GOP candidate in the race against Democrat Tim Walz in the 1st District congressional seat.

The choice of Demmer means this race is shaping up to be a closer contest than it was two years ago. The Republicans are fielding a stronger candidate. That said, the politicking still must be done, and we will see how the campaigns go.

It’s good to see people throw their hat in the ring of politics. The Republicans had quite a field to choose from on Saturday. They selected the right person.
