Editorial: News, news and more news

When it rains, it pours.

On Friday, the top stories in the Albert Lea Tribune were about roof repair planned for Hawthorne Elementary School, the walking school bus at Lakeview Elementary School and a group’s message about preventing child abuse. Not much must have been going on Thursday, but our community has a lot of good things going on anyway.

Then comes Monday, resulting in a newsy front page today. A well-known local businessman faces criminal charges. A fire scorches a building at Alamco Wood Products. Neighbors reportedly fight over money. A man gets charged in connection with an armed robbery last year.

On top of those stories, jury selection began in a murder trial (reported Sunday), and the new city manager for Albert Lea began his job (see Page 3).

Some days just have more news than others. That’s just how life works.
