Southern Miss football coach Larry Fedora says former Eagles and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre dropped by practice on Monday.
Fedora says Favre spoke to the team for about 10 minutes following the practice.
“It was just a great day (that brought him out),” Fedora said. “He watched a little practice and we were very lucky to have him out. He visited with the team after practice and it was pretty special.”
“He was just talking about what it was like to play here and what it meant to play here, on that practice field and in that stadium. You could’ve heard a pin drop out there. Everyone was glued in and listening to what he had to say. You don’t get many opportunities like that to get to listen to the greatest quarterback that ever played the game. He said a lot of things that were on his heart. It was good.”
Fedora said Favre didn’t discuss his plans.
“He didn’t say that and we didn’t ask, either,” the third-year coach said.
Quarterback Martevious Young said Favre may have dropped a hint on the topic during his speech.
“He said ‘I might be out here watching you in the fall, but there are no early commitments to that, though,”’ Young said.
