The chief presiding officer of the Loyal Order of the Moose will be in Albert Lea next week to meet with local Moose members and community leaders during a series of planned events.
Supreme Gov. Liguori V. Saladin, of Tampa, Fla., will come to the Albert Lea Moose Lodge 1703 starting at 5 p.m. Thursday for a meet-and-greet session.
A short program will follow at 6:30 p.m., with a supper planned afterward.
“We’re just trying to show him a good Midwest, warm welcome and hope he enjoys his stay,” said Jeff Bennett, fraternal director of publicity for the state’s Moose Legion and local lodge member.
Bennett said Saladin chose to come to Albert Lea on his own cognizance.
Saladin joined the Moose in 1968 as a member of the Tampa, Fla., Lodge 1146 and has since served in numerous positions in his local lodge and has helped institute several other lodges.
He was elected to his current position in the fraternal order in May of 2009 after serving on the fraternity’s highest governing body prior to that.
He has also served at the international level.
Now retired, Saladin previously worked for the Tampa Police Department.
He is married with 13 children.
The banquet on Thursday will conclude with entertainment by Megaforce Karaoke.
Moose Lodge 1703 is at 1623 W. Main St. in the Skyline Plaza.
