New Prague holds off Albert Lea boys’ tennis

The Albert Lea boys’ tennis couldn’t get a third-set victory in a 5-2 loss to New Prague Tuesday in New Prague.
The Tigers (0-2) lost three three-set matches and took the first set in those matches to fall to the Trojans.
The No. 2 doubles team of senior Jeff Thorstad and junior Luke Cheever rallied from a 5-2 first-set deficit to win the first set 7-6 (7-3) but dropped the next two sets 6-2, 6-2.
At No. 3 doubles freshmen Tate Tufte and Kyle Zogg took the first set 6-4, but lost the next two 6-1, 6-4.
Dyllan Engebretson was up 2-1 in the third set of his match at No. 3 singles before he was forced to retire because of injury.
Senior Kyle See-Rockers won at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Kam Mantle and the No. 1 doubles team of seniors Noah Christopherson and Luke Thompson won 6-4, 7-5.
The Tigers play Rochester Century Thursday.
