Albert Lea senior Tyler Haaland tied for medalist honors Monday as the Tigers boys’ golf team defeated Rochester Mayo 326-332 at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester.

Haaland’s 79 helped lead Albert Lea to its first victory of the season in the first match of the season while senior Sam Matheson finished one stroke back with an 80.

Casey Marka finished with an 83 and Brady Falk tallied an 84.

“We’re just happy to start the season with a ‘W,'” said Tigers head coach Riley Worth.

Albert Lea faces Waseca Thursday at Green Lea Golf Course.
