Tigers softball drops third one-run game

The Albert Lea softball team came up short once again in a tight ballgame Tuesday in a 2-1, eight inning loss to John Marshall in Rochester.

The Tigers have gone 0-4 in games decided by three runs or less and 0-3 in one-run ballgames.

The Rockets (3-2, 3-2 Big Nine) hit a solo homer in the fourth and won the game with after their lead-off hitter got a double and scored on a single with two outs.

Albert Lea junior Courtney Schnaith drove in senior Kristine Kelly with a base hit in the sixth inning and finished 2-for-3.

The Tigers (1-6, 0-4 Big Nine) had six hits and out hit John Marshall 6-5, but struck out 10 times.

“We didn’t put the ball in play enough,” said Albert Lea head coach Dan Harms. “It cost us.”

The Tigers face Austin Thursday in Albert Lea.
