Blossoms rally past USC again

Miscues again cost the United South Central baseball team against Blooming Prairie in a 4-3 loss Tuesday in Wells.
Earlier this season the Blossoms pulled out an 8-7 victory after the Rebels committed nine errors and blew a 7-1 lead. USC’s latest loss played out in a similar manner.
The Rebels (10-6, 7-3 Gopher) held a 3-1 lead, but Blooming Prairie rallied for three runs in the final two innings for the victory. The Blossoms scored the game-winning run on a passed ball in the seventh.
“If you want to win games in May and in the playoffs you need to make plays otherwise your season is going to come to a halt real quick,” said USC head coach Pat Frank.
The Rebels didn’t make plays down the stretch and missed a sure out in the sixth inning as Blooming Prairie threatened.
Nick Fure, the hard-luck loser last time against the Blossoms when he gave up just two earned runs, lost again despite giving up just one earned run. Fure gave up five hits, struck 10 and walked one in seven innings.
Senior Taylor Ovrebo went 2-for-3 with an RBI and senior A.J. Dreyer went 1-for-3 with a two-run double in the fifth.
The Rebels play Thursday against Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton.
