The 41-year-old Albert Lea man charged earlier this month with alleged criminal sexual conduct of two children from 2004 through 2009 appeared in Freeborn County District Court on Monday for a second time on the charges.
Allen Ross Camerer — who faces two first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges and two second-degree criminal sexual conduct charges — appeared with his lawyer, Dan Donnelly, after posting a non-cash bond after his first hearing.
Donnelly requested a default omnibus hearing for his client but asked that it be scheduled 60 to 90 days from that date because he needed to obtain some Iowa records.
At that hearing, lawyers typically decide to contest a part in the case or move forward and enter a plea for their client.
According to court papers, Camerer engaged in multiple instances of alleged sexual contact, including intercourse with the two alleged victims, according to information they reportedly told an Albert Lea Police detective that was listed in the criminal complaint.
Camerer spoke with authorities on May 12 about the allegations, at which time he “stated no admissions of having contact or sexual intercourse … and did not know why they would say that he had had sexual contact and sexual intercourse with them,” according to the report.
He is next scheduled to appear in court Aug. 30.
The following is a summary of other court happenings Monday:
Victoria Ann Rivera Lopez, 22, who faces one count of methamphetamine possession and four counts of meth sales, appeared in-custody with public defender Kevin Riha.
Riha requested a speedy contested omnibus hearing, as Lopez is in jail and does not appear able to make bail.
Lopez was arrested earlier this month after a traffic stop right off of Interstate 35 near the intersection of Highway 65 and Blake Avenue.
The meth possession charge alleges from this incident.
Her sales charges come from prior alleged sales to a drug task force informant.
In court Monday, 59-year-old Rex Dickey — who faces two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon — appeared in-custody with his public defender Stephen Erickson.
Erickson requested a contested omnibus hearing for his client, saying he plans to question statements made to authorities the day of Dickey’s arrest and issues related to a search that was made.
Dickey is accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a woman while wielding a knife in March. He was arrested after the alleged victim called 911 and police responded.
A hearing scheduled for 26-year-old Travis Holst, of Albert Lea, who faces multiple counts of child pornography possession, was tentatively rescheduled for Aug. 31 at 8:30 a.m.
Holst faces 12 counts of child pornography possession after more than a year of investigation by the Albert Lea Police Department, the Minneapolis Police Department and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The counts match up with multimedia files found on his computer hard drive that was seized by authorities.
