The Alden-Conger softball team got plenty of hits, which head coach Gary Nelson was looking for, but its defense wasn’t on par Tuesday in a 13-12 loss to Madelia/Truman in Madelia.
The Knights (2-10) jumped out to a 12-4 lead after the third inning but 10 errors cost them a chance at a victory.
Alden-Conger freshman Ali Songstad threw all seven innings and allowed just one earned run in the loss.
Sophomore Nikki Schultz went 3-for-5 with two triples and eight RBIs while freshman Ariel Keller went 5-for-5 and junior Haley Knutson finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
