Faribault took over reign of the Big Nine Conference Monday at the girls’ golf conference meet at Northlinks Golf Course in Mankato, ending Albert Lea’s one-year residency at the top of the conference.
The Falcons shot 351 while the Tigers finished fifth with a 379.
“It would have been fun for us to surprise some people and play a great round,” said Albert Lea head coach Shawn Riebe.
Instead there were few surprises. Faribault won the conference title and the conference tournament to win its first title in two years.
Tigers freshman Megan Pulley earned all-conference honors and shot 93. Senior Taylor Nelson missed all-conference by one spot and shot 89. Senior Erin Brick shot 93 and sophomore Morgan Field shot 105.
