Fire damages home in Geneva area

GENEVA — Several 911 calls to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office just before 5 p.m. Friday alerted authorities to a home fire at the Brant D. Hemingway residence, 78346 310th St., southwest of Geneva in Bath Township.
The Geneva Fire Department responded and noticed that fire was visible inside and outside of the home on the west and south sides. Mutual aid was then requested from the Ellendale and Clarks Grove fire departments.
The home reportedly has extensive damages to both the interior and exterior.
The cause is undetermined, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.
The Albert Lea Fire Investigation Team responded and has requested that the state fire marshal assists in the investigation of the cause.
Also assisting at the scene of the fire was the Salvation Army, American Red Cross and Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services.
