Law enforcement received a call that a funnel cloud was spotted near Gordonsville heading east around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A fast-moving-but-small storm delivered heavy rainfall in parts of Freeborn County Tuesday afternoon.
Freeborn County sheriff’s deputies were searching for signs of a funnel cloud. Worth County deputies said they think it may have been a dust devil.
Dust was kicked up quite a bit when the storm came through Albert Lea.
Deputies were unable to confirm any signs of a funnel cloud and returned to Albert Lea around 5 p.m. They expected some hard rain for later in the evening. Deputies report seeing dark storm clouds.
At 6:52 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement that said fast-moving showers and thunderstorms may create strong wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph in the Albert Lea area until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
