The Albert Lea Knights 9U grey team qualified for the MBT 10A state tourney May 15-16 in an eight-team state qualifier at Inver Grove Heights with a second-place finish. Last Saturday the Knights went 3-0, posting a 13-10 victory against East Ridge, a 9-8 victory against Chanhassen, and an 11-3 victory against Apple Valley 2 to come out of our pool play as the No. 1 seed for bracket play. Last Sunday the Albert Lea Knights 9U Grey team played Apple Valley 1 and won 9-1 to put the Knights into the championship game and qualify them for the MBT state tournament. The Knights were again matched up with Chanhassen, who they beat Saturday. The game went into extra innings as Chanhassen fought back and scored to tie up the game in three consecutive innings. Chanhassen won in the bottom of the eighth with a sliding play at home to put the score at 10-9.
