The Alden-Conger softball team managed just two hits against Martin County West’s Taylor Saxen in a 4-1 loss Tuesday in Alden.

The Knights (2-8, 1-6 Valley) struck out 17 times and got their only run in the third inning.

Allyssa Maras’ RBI double in the third tied the game at 1-1, but the Mavericks got two runs in the sixth and added an insurance run in the seventh for their fifth consecutive victory.
