The Northwood-Kensett boys’ track and field team crowned one state champion at the Iowa state track and field meet Friday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa and had a chance for a second championship Saturday in the finals of the 4×100-meter relay.

The team of Nik Werner, Spencer Capitani, Jayson Olson and Sam Arnold finished second with a time of 44.02 seconds, just behind Madrid, which won the event with a time of 43.48.

The Vikings finished tied for 11th overall at the meet with 18 points and won the 4×200 relay Friday.
