Alliant Energy explained the cause of power outages on Thursday.
A spokesman from the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, office of Alliant Energy said Albert Lea had three reported electrical outages Thursday evening, and one incident involved 297 customers. The other two were single-home incidents in the city. One involved a squirrel and a power line and the other was caused by a raccoon.
The major outage took place in the Shoreland Heights area, was reported at 7:36 p.m. Thursday, and was caused by a tree limb falling onto a power line. Customers losing power reportedly lived mainly along Ridge, Meredith, Martin and Willamor roads. Electrical power was restored to those customers by 8:30 p.m.
