Support effort to have coffee house

Published 8:35 am Wednesday, May 19, 2010

I am a sophomore at Albert Lea High School and as such I am always seeking a place to hang out. Since the Starbucks in town closed, there has been a rising desire for a local coffeehouse and a place for teens to just go and hang out. Well, one is finally on its way.

Erin McCormick, along with a group of others, is opening a small gourmet coffee house in town. It will be called The Green Bean and will be located right across the street from the courthouse. It will have wi-fi, a live band playing once a month and will be a very environmentally friendly place for people of all ages to go. The problem is they still need funding. One way you can help is to go to a local bank and donate into their account. They’re hoping to have it opened within the next few months but I ask that anyone who is presented with the opportunity, please donate to the cause.

This is a great thing to happen in town and it would be heartbreaking to many if this vision couldn’t become a reality due to lack of support.
